One of our major goals here at bikecda.com is to help promote non-automotive forms of travel and the development of a safe, comfortable, integrated transportation network for all users, regardless of age, ability, income, ethnicity, or mode of transportation; otherwise known as a Complete Street.
The City of Coeur d'Alene back in the Spring of 2009 took a major step towards this goal by enacting a Complete Streets Policy. Let's help our CdA Mayor and City Council begin to build on that great foundation. Let's keep this policy in the forefront of our minds as we design and construct, or even reconstruction of our major street systems in CdA.
Additionally, we wanted to establish a clear connection with local government in an effort to make the public more aware of the current stage and progress of transportation projects that are subject to impact the walk, pedal, and roll community.
We hope to be able to list these transportation projects for you along with the current status of each specific project, so it gives you (the community) an opportunity to have a voice in that development.
We believe the foundation is there; we are living in the 21st century, in the age of the smartphone and instant connection. We have the world at our fingertips as we live and play in the "City of Excellence". Can it get any better than that?
We encourage you to write your local City and County Officials and ask that they help make this happen.
