we wanted to be able to promote area businesses that help support bicycling in the Coeur d’Alene area.
In this process, we’re wondering what constitutes a “Bike Friendly Business”? Well, we’re not really sure…, but we did have a few ideas.
What about a employer (like the City of CdA or Kootenai Health) providing benifits to employees for commuting to work on a bike. Check out the Bicycle Commuter Benefit.
What about a business that requests the City to install our very first “Bike Corral” in front of their establishment? (*Thank you Calypsos & Java for kicking this off.)
What about a business that is willing to display a bikecda.com flyer in their front window? How about a coffee shop that is willing to host a “Coffee Crawl on Bikes”? Or wait, what about a business that is willing to be the first to kick-off a “Bike Share” program?
We're only limited by our imaginations. Please let us know what you think. Also, if you’re associated with a business and would be interested in having a large number of bicyclists descending upon your establishment to spend huge amounts of cash and potentially bringing great publicity to your business, then we would love to hear from you!!!

It’s being more creative and efficient with available street space. It’s in-street parking for bicycles. Instead of having a parking space for one motor vehicle, you now have parking for 10-15 bicycles in the that same space, freeing your sidewalks for seating and pedestrian use. It's a win/win for everyone!
